Thanks to the BBC for introducing me to James Graham’s artistry in Gaelic song. His renditions of some traditional classics that I remember my father playing on his old 78’s are truly inspiring. His diction is so crisp that even as a very rusty Irish Gaelic speaker I can make out much of the Scots Gaelic. I only wish my father were alive today to enjoy them.

Moran taing. I’m pleased to have touched on topics that people find interesting, and I too would like to explore them more deeply, especially the role of song in revitalisation of the Gaelic language.

A lot of things touched on here which could be explored further with interesting results: creating new Gaelic song; the significance of that; the role of the Mod in Scottish/Highland/Gaelic culture; its role in the revitalisation of the language. Hope to see more articles delving deeper into these issues in the future.
