Thanks for this introduction to Ian Westacott's work, it's beautiful. I want to get really close in and hug those trees! Is there any chance we can get a chance to see an exhibition of the work up here? And if Ian ever wants to head west to Assynt, I'd love to introduce him to my favourite old hazel.

So pleased it meant something to you both and love the notion of 'tree-touring'! There could be a new pastime there. We take our gnarled and ancient trees so much for granted in this country that maybe we needed a (special) Australian to show us how wonderful they really are.

Enjoyed reading this piece Alison, and hearing about the connections and passions that have inspired Ian. Linking times and places that we've had a glimpse of, both in Scotland and Australia. We loved tree touring with Ian while in Scotland, exploring wild and beautiful places, seeking out old old trees with fascinating histories, histories much older than so many of the fast growing, short living trees of Australia.
