What a nice review. For all of those who've missed the concert, or want to see it again; the concert is recorded in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

The links are:

http://youtu.be/75oUbuzNVcg for Rimsky Korsakov and Bloch
http://youtu.be/88Z2iU-B8f8 for Mahler.

Enjoy!

It was a magnificent and inspired performance from the whole orchestra and soloist Pieter Wispelwey. They played with the kind of energy and verve seldom seen in many of our regularly touring orchestras and communicated the emotional range of the music superbly. It is so rare to hear the likes of Mahler at all due to the size of orchestra required and I fear that lack of audience support will not encourage furture touring or expand the repertoire able to be heard here. This was a live performance I will not forget - I just wish more people had have been there to hear it too. I hope Perth and Aberdeen gave these musicians the full house support they so richly deserve.

The concert was wonderful uplifting, what better for Mahler than 100 pus youngsters playing their hearts out with Mature adult musianship,, Bravo all round!!

I wonder if a bit more direct marketing from Eden Court might have helped. A mail out to the classical subscriber list might have been expensive, but maybe an alert to Friends, or to anyone whose e-mail they have?

More unanimity from me too. What an orchestra, what a conductor. I'm still high on the experience. But full marks to the Inverness Courier for giving such a big preview to the concert last week, without which I might well have missed it, not being sufficiently organised (or with the flexibility) to book all my advance tickets when the Eden Court brochure comes out.

I have to say I am entirely with James on this one. This was the best orchestral concert I have heard at Eden Court in some time, and a refreshing change from the recent trend of, for example, the RSNO turning up with chamber orchestra programming. I will now be considerably less sympathetic to those who complain about the reduction of the orchestral concert season at Eden Court. I'm sure some regulars will have been on holiday, but that still leaves several hundred who simply didn't bother. They missed a great evening.
