I am Alan's grandson, and I must say, it's an amazing sight, watching him while away at his violins, sometimes late into the night. I think it is a privelage to be the grandson of such a great man. (Ps, the link to his website is out of date... Here is the new one: http://.scoraig.com/old/Beavitt.html )

I am one of the lucky ones who gets to accompany Bev playing his own violins. He is by far the instrumentalist I most love to make music with, bringing me to emotional heights. The article is lovely, the photos beautiful and it truly portrays the person, however the comment about his violins being worth more money after his death gave me the shivers. Long live Bev, continue to make violins, violas and music for ever.

Brilliant article. I have a beautiful violin that Bev restored for me. My boyfriend at the time, John, lived in Scotland and he bought this beautiful violin for me for my 30th birthday and flew out from Scotland to Australia to give it to me! Bev had sown the seed for this mad venture by suggesting hand delivery was the only way to get it to me safely! John appeared on my doorstep in Sydney, much to my surprise, gorgeous violin in hand - I play it to this day, accompanied by my 5 year old son, Taran, who is also learning. John is his Dad, my husband and Taran is teaching HIM how to play said violin!! Thanks for the story. Samantha in Sydney. x
