New Scottish Opera Company Takes La Bohème On Tour

25 Mar 2011 in Aberdeen City & Shire, Highland, Moray, Music

Following a sell-out run of performances last summer, Opera Bohemia, Scotland’s up-and-coming new opera company, is taking its acclaimed first production on tour. Performances of the company’s intimate and moving take on Puccini’s tragic masterpiece La Bohème will take place in a range of locations throughout Scotland, giving audiences across the country the opportunity to experience this unique production.

Rising Scottish star Catriona Clark leads a cast of emerging artists in the role of Mimi, the young seamstress whose failing health can’t prevent her falling in love with charismatic poet Rodolfo. This energetic and youthful production, sung in Italian with English surtitles and accompanied by violin and piano, captures all the emotional highs and lows of Puccini’s romantic score: from playful friendship to the rush of first love, to the devastating pain of heartbreak and loss.
