Launch of These Islands, We Sing

23 Jun 2011 in Writing

You are warmly invited to the launch of ‘These Islands, We Sing’ (Polygon). Scotland’s islands have produced a body of poetry whose quality is inordinately high.

Come along to the Scottish Poetry Library on Tuesday the 28th June at 7 pm to hear major talents ANDREW GREIG and CHRISTINE DE LUCA and exciting newcomer ROSEANNE WATT share some of their work and read a poem or two by a favourite island poet.

It promises to be a wonderful evening. The book itself includes many poets who were born on an island or chose to live on one. Edwin Muir, Iain Crichton Smith, Jen Hadfield, Sorley MacLean, Aonghas MacNeacail, Rhoda Bulter, Donald S Murray, Meg Bateman, Robert Alan Jamieson and Stella Sutherland feature alongside many, many other great poets.

I hope to see you there. If you can’t make it, note there will be an event in Glasgow at the CCA on the evening of the 30th June at 7 pm, which might be more convenient for some; reading there shall be the wonderful island poets PAMELA BEASANT, RODY GORMAN, CHRISTIE WILLIAMSON and LISE SINCLAIR.
