Introduction to Design and Weave for Tweed

an Lanntair in Stornoway is hosting a forthcoming workshop looking at handweaving tweed.

The 2 day introductory workshop will look at the design & structure for hand weaving tweed on a table loom.

There will be short presentation on Harris Tweed, and an introduction to the production of woollen tweed fabrics and the unique role of the Harris Tweed weaver.

Participants will learn basic weave design on graph paper, weave samples of classic tweed designs on a table loom and have the opportunity to design their own tartan on CAD textile design software.

Participants are asked to bring along a photograph or postcard of a Hebridean landscape as inspiration.

Course led by Sam Goates, a woven textile designer and weaver with 25 years experience in the woven textile industry.
