Work by Jenna Hume

Evanescent is an exhibition of small scale works by Jenna Hume which is currently taking place at For Arts Sake Gallery in Kirkwall and will run until 5th October 2011.

Jenna tells us a little about her background and work:

‘I returned to Westray in 1993, at the end of my study at Edinburgh School of Art where I specialised in tapestry weaving. I have spent the last 13 years developing our knitwear business, Hume Sweet Hume, with my sister Lizza.

As the years have passed I have spoken a lot about doing my own work. Our dads advice to us was ‘Stop yapping about it and get on with it’. Now I am doing just that!

Evanescent is the portrayal of the fading colures, atmosphere and emotions of my early morning walks on Grobust beach throughout the summer’.

For Arts Sake Gallery is located upstairs at VAO, 6 Bridge Street, Kirkwall and is open from 10am – 4pm, Monday – Friday and from 10am – 2pm on Saturday.
