Singing event at The Stables in Cromarty

14 Sep 2011 in General

Coro Alba will be coming to perform for Cromarty Arts Trust at 4pm on Sunday 25th September 2011 at The Stables, Cromarty.

Coro Alba is a group of eight professional singers: soprani Daisy Henderson and Jenny Wilson Best, mezzo soprani Fiona MacDonald and Julie Martin-Carter, tenors Adam Magee and Matthew Bridle, and baritones Steven Faughey and Nigel Boarer, ably accompanied by Derek Clark. Among them, they have a wealth of experience and talent. They perform around Scotland and have provided backing voices for John Innes, the People’s Tenor at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, for Raymond Gubbay extravaganzas and for the Priests in the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow. All the singers are regularly employed by opera houses in Britain and abroad, eg Scottish Opera, Opera North, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, Zurich Opera, Bayreuth Festspiel, the Chatelet, Paris, La Monnaie, Brussels and the Nationale Reisopera, Holland, to name but a few.

They will present an exciting programme of four part choruses, trios, duets and solos from the operas of Verdi, Bizet, Mozart, Puccini, Donizetti, Delibes, Wagner and Offenbach, as well as offering operetta from Lehar and Johann Strauss, some snatches of Gilbert and Sullivan, a little bit of Porter, Kern, Berlin, Novello and Gershwin, and some well-loved songs from the shows. Their programme is presented in an informal humourous manner, and is easily accessible to all. You don’t have to be an opera buff to enjoy this concert, as all the music is either instantly recognisable or immediately memorable!
