Stromness THI – ‘An Island Gateway’ Arts Project

28 Oct 2011 in Orkney, Visual Arts & Crafts

The Stromness THI has secured funding for a community arts project to help people in Orkney to explore Stromness’s unique architecture, identity and culture using art. We are looking for 2 – 3 professional, practising visual artists to work collaboratively with each other and the community to create 1 – 2 pieces of high quality community art. The finished work will be displayed in public spaces in the new Pierhead building.  The total project fee is £5,250 with a further budget of £1,400 for materials. The project is offered on a freelance basis, with the successful artists being responsible for their own tax, NI and public liability insurance.

An Artist’s brief can be obtained by contacting the project manager, Fiona Smith on 01856 875417, or 07855 498814 or fiona@sorton.co.uk. The closing date for responses to this brief is 5.00pm on 16th November 2011.
