Innovative music project begins on Unst

1 Jun 2012 in Music, Shetland

An innovative music project is about to take place on the remote northern island of Unst, part of the Shetland Islands.

Edinburgh-based experimental trio NeWt, featuring Chris Greive (trombone), Graeme Stephen (guitar) and Chris Wallace (drums), will travel to Unst today (1st June) to begin writing and rehearsing new material inspired by the sights, sounds, people and history of this extremely remote location. This new music will be performed on Saturday 9th June at the first Shetland Jazz Festival.

Please join us by visiting  http://www.newtnet.co.uk/  where you can not only view the live streaming concert as it happens (22:30 GMT Sat June 9) but starting from Sunday June 3 you can also tune in to the website and spy on the band as they write, arrange, rehearse, argue, breakdown, blog and so on…… throughout the process of creating this new work.

We hope you can join us in our celebration, through music, of one of the UK’s most remote and intriguing locations.
