Seeing Differently by Dance Ihayami is a thoughtful mix of Indian classical dance, music and film depicting the the transformation of Indian classical dance from its roots to the modern stage through the eyes of an Indian dancer. Rhythmic footwork, meaningful hand gestures and facial expressions of pure Indian classical dance are explored in a contemporary setting to create an evocative and powerful dance experience.

Dance Ihayami will also present a Bollywood (Dandiya style dance) Workshop on Saturday 15 Sept 2.00 – 4.30pm (before the show). Participants are invited to explore the vibrant and rhythmic Bollywood style of Dandiya Raas a high energy folk dance from Gujarat, Western India performed with sticks. (Dandiya means sticks, and Raas means community/group dancing where men and women dance together). The workshop will be a fun way to improve concentration, coordination and overall fitness and to learn new dance moves from India. It is designed for both complete beginners and more experienced dancers and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, loose clothing and to go barefoot. Workshop £10. Under 16s £5.
