Music Open Sessions

12-17 December, 6-9pm

Join Ignition Composer Hugh Nankevill and help create and play a new piece car-related music for The Road. Bring an instrument if you have one. All ages and abilities welcome.

The Road: Open Family Music Sessions

15 December, 10.30am-1pm, Mareel, Lerwick

An open music session for everyone to come and create music with Ignition Composer Hugh Nankivell, based on the road that runs from Skaw to Sumburgh. Bring an instrument if you have one. All ages and abilities welcome.

Sunday Tea on Wheels & Car Yarns ‘The Final Purl’

16 December, 12-5pm, Brae Youth Centre

The White Wife is back on the road with her Sunday Tea on Wheels. As well as enjoying a cup of tea and some home baking you can take part in the final Car Yarns event and help them finish knitting a Shetland wool cover for a car. The panels will be sewn together and the car dressed with its cover at the Ignition Open Day on 12 January at the Mareel.

The White Wife will be resident in the back of the Shetland buses collecting travel stories and exploring the use, and need, for public transport. You can find her on the following buses:

We will be hosting the Ignition Open Day & Media Call on Saturday 12 January at Mareel, Lerwick – everyone is welcome to come along and join in the Ignition journey with a day full of car-related activities.
