What: PhotoGlobal uses the fastest growing social network app, Instagram, to take real-time submissions by 250 photographers and artists from all over the globe. Some of those artists have been chosen via a competition hosted on Instagram which yielded over 4000 entries.

Who: PhotoGlobal is the brainchild of 4 folk in Inverness, all part of the IG:LU art collective. These include one of the foremost Instagram artists in the world, Christopher Howell, who resides in Inverness and has approaching 15,000 followers on the app.

When: PhotoGlobal runs from Mon 07 March to Sun 13 March 2011, open from 11am to 6pm each day and will run through the night as a projection on the building opposite.

Why: IG:LU held what was officially the world’s first Instagram exhibition, using the images of Christopher Howell, as part of it’s opening show in December 2010. Whilst that was showing, The team got together and saw the potential for taking advantage of the global reach and popularity of the Instagram app to host a more ambitious project. Hence, PhotoGlobal was born.
