Sir Thomas Urquhart 400th Anniversary Conference in Cromarty

14 Mar 2011 in Heritage, Highland

We are all getting very excited about our birthday celebrations for the wonderful Sir Thomas Urquhart at The Stables on 15-16 April 2011!

We have speakers coming from New York, Amsterdam, Oxford, Cambridge and all points north to help throw some light on the extraordinary career of the Laird of Cromarty who fought in the Civil Wars, invented a Universal Language (nearly), traced his ancestry back to Adam and Eve and produced the most exuberant (not to mention the most bawdy) translation of ‘Gargantua and Pantagruel’ by Francois Rabelais.

If you sign up as a Full Delegate, you get to attend all Conference Sessions, plus you get two Conference Lunches (one in Cromarty House), a Conference Reception in Cromarty’s historic East Kirk and a Conference Dinner and Ceilidh in the Old Brewery. But you will have to hurry, as there are only a few Full Delegate places left.

However, if you are happy just to attend the Conference Sessions and make you own arrangements for meals, then you can apply for a Day Delegate place on either the Friday or the Saturday – or both.

Full details of the Conference Programme, the Speakers and How to Apply can be found on the conference website at www.urquhartconference.org.uk.
