Fil Campbell at Universal Hall

28 Mar 2011 in Moray, Music

On her most recent CD, Songbirds, Fil Campbell reworks Irish folk songs that were first recorded in the early 20th century and these form the basis of her set.

They include plenty of good choruses, lots of stories about the First Ladies of Irish Song, plus several of her own compositions. Many songs are taken from the Irish TV Songbirds series, which Fil researched and narrated. Billed as “A nostalgic night of Irish Folk Songs” in which Fil covers such tunes as Let Him Go Let Him Tarry, Spinning Wheel, Courtin in the Kitchen, The Bonny Boy, If I Were a Blackbird and many more.

The concert features Fil on vocals and guitar plus percussionist Tom McFarland, and will bring Northern Irish fun and laughter to their British tour which starts here in Findhorn.
