Caged, Sean Hughes and Red Room at Universal Hall

1 Apr 2011

Catherine Wheels presents Caged – a wonderful theatre show about two people trapped together, and finding more freedom than they ever imagined. This is a timeless story featuring Beauty and the Beast who will never get on – or will they?

He licks his hands, stands on the toilet and runs through the woods.  She carries a hankie, never gets mud on her shoes and always remembers to send a thank you note. So how come, when she sees him run like that her heart starts to spin? Recommended for all children aged 8 and over (and the adults they bring with them).

Universal Hall, Findhorn, 13 April, 7pm. £6/£5/£4 U-16’s

SEAN HUGHES

Winner – Perrier Award – 1990

After hugely successful sell out runs in London and at the Edinburgh Fringe, and exactly 21 years after becoming the youngest ever Perrier winner, Sean Hughes is bringing the show ‘Ducks & Other Mistakes I’ve Made’ back to Scotland and to Findhorn for one night only.

This show sees a more mature Sean, a man who has found his voice, a voice that has no boundaries and one that is very much true to himself.

A household name with his dark, explosive style of quick-fire audience banter that has appeared in endless amount of TV and radio shows, is also a published author with four books to his name. Recently Sean returned to his first love stand-up and is back at his absolute best.

Universal Hall, Findhorn, 14 April, 7.30pm. £14/£12.

RED ROOM

David Hughes Dance Company present their critically acclaimed, award-winning interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tale The Masque of the Red Death.

Barricaded in his opulent abbey-mansion, a prince entertains a party of debauched revellers whilst the world outside teeters on the brink of plague-ridden apocalypse. Capturing the themes of mortality, hedonism and madness, the diverse company of performers weave a multitude of dance traditions – ballet, breakdancing, contemporary dance, Bharatanatyam – with high-octane physical theatre to create a contemporary and visually shocking horror show for the stage. David Hughes Dance Company is one of the UK’s most accomplished and original dance companies – see http://www.davidhughesdance.co.uk

“Fast-moving, dramatic, performed with demonic energy and sly polish – this is a triumph for all concerned.” The Herald
