Play Pieces Adds Some Drama To Your Lunchtime

6 May 2011 in Artforms, Dance & Drama

This summer will see a new theatre event come to Inverness. Play Pieces is a season of lunchtime theatre at the Ironworks, starting in June, running until November and aims to make theatre accessible to people from all over the Highlands as well as creating an opportunity for Highland theatre companies to showcase their productions.

Inspired by A Play, a pie & a pint which is a successful lunchtime theatre event in Glasgow, Play Pieces will run one Saturday a month, based in the Ironworks. Each show starts at 1.30pm, lunch is included in the ticket price of £10 and is provided by MacDougall & Hastie. With each show lasting just under 1 hour, it means people can conveniently watch a play, especially if they have travelled a great distance or have a busy afternoon.

There are 6 companies involved in the first season of Play Pieces, who are all based across the Highlands; from Caithness to Moray. Each play is contemporary and ranges from comedy to puppetry, storytelling and music. Each show is very different and bound to appeal to a wide range of people.

So come along and add some drama to your lunchtime this summer. Information on all the shows and how to book can be found at www.playpieces.co.uk or call the Ironworks Box Office on 0871 7894173.
