Made in the Highlands at Made in Clerkenwell (19 – 22 May 2011)

9 May 2011 in Highland, Visual Arts & Crafts

Through their Mentoring to Market project, HI-Arts Craft Development offered a unique opportunity for Highlands and Islands makers to link up with Craft Central (www.craftcentral.org.uk) in London and to access a structured programme of support and exhibition opportunities.

Craft Central’s mission is to support the continued growth of all craft throughout the UK not just in London. Established for over 25 years, this pioneering not-for-profit organisation is dedicated to building a strong future for craft and design – an aim and vision that reflect our own for the sector and we look forward to establishing a productive and creative relationship.

HI-Arts Craft Development has brought together a selection of work by a range of makers from throughout the Highlands and Islands and have assisted them to exhibit as part of the Open Studios event at Craft Central as Made in the Highlands at Made Clerkenwell. HI-Arts Crafts has also secured the Craft Central Corner shop in Clerkenwell and will have the makers work on display at this location from 19th – 22nd May 2011.

The makers exhibiting at Craft Central this May 2011 are Eileen Gatt (Jewellery and Silversmithing), Jenny Deschenes (Textiles), Daniel Kavanagh (Fine Art Ceramics & Bronze Sculpture), Melanie Muir (Jewellery), Lucy Woodley (Jewellery and Silvermithing) and Julia Smith (Ceramics).

Melanie Muir and Julie Smith will both have open studios at the Made In Clerkenwell event too.
