Celebrating Adam Ant’s forthcoming gig at Inverness Ironworks (Sun 22 May 2011), IG:LU in Inverness are hosting an exhibition of all things Adam Ant on Screen, featuring many of his film appearances and all his pop videos with Adam & The Ants.

Derek Jarman’s iconic film from the punk era, Jubilee, takes centre stage, being shown in full, on rotation in the big room. The film is often dubbed ‘the original punk film’ and captures the ‘no future’ essence of the movement. The film stars Toyah Wilcox, Richard O’Brien and Jenny Runacre as Queen Elizabeth I, transported to a bleak anarchistic future, and sees Adam Ant take his first feature role, as ‘Kid’. Adam & The Ants also feature on the soundtrack – alongside the likes of Siouxie & The Banshees, Brian Eno and more. [nb: this is an 18 certificate, so admission for this is thus restricted]

Several of Adam Ant’s other films with be shown in one of the smaller rooms, including Midnight Heat, Cold Steel, Nomads and Drop Dead Rock – with Ant appearing alongside such illustrious co-stars as Dennis Hopper, Piers Brosnan, Deborah Harry, Sharon Stone, etc.

In the final room, music takes centre stage – with the collected videos of classic era Adam & The Ants on random rotation – Kings of the Wild Frontier, Antmusic, Prince Charming, Stand and Deliver, Ant Rap, Goody Two Shoes, Dog Eat Dog and more.

The exhibition will close prior to the gig – and then an after-gig party will be held in IG:LU for a select few. Places are extremely restricted and people may apply for places via text only.
