Donnie Munro and Eric Faulkner To Perform At The Famous Grouse Festival

17 May 2011 in Festival

The Famous Grouse has today announced the line-up that will entertain crowds at The Famous Grouse Festival’s opening night on Friday 12th August. Featuring Scottish legends such as former lead singer of Runrig, Donny Munro, and the Bay City Rollers’ Erik Faulkner.

Headliner, Donnie Munro, left Runrig to pursue his solo career in 1997 and has continued to thrill audiences with his unique voice and style. Munro will perform a wide mix of material, from the Runrig back catalogue to his more traditional songs, some of which are in Gaelic. His most recent album ‘Heart of America’ won Album of the Year in the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2006.

Guitarist, singer and songwriter, Faulkner co-wrote many of the Rollers songs which he still performs today alongside his more recent solo work. Faulkner is a festival veteran having performed at the likes of Guilfest in 2006 and Glastonbury in 2007 and is known for engaging crowds with his life tales as well as his music.

Solo acoustic artist Jill Jackson will perform on both the Friday and the Saturday night. She was described by the Nashville press as the ‘Scottish Songbird’ – a contrast from her days as the front-woman of rock band Speedway.

Another star gracing the stage will be Dundee’s Michael Marra, one of Scotland’s most successful song writers, who has opened for the likes of Van Morrison, The Proclaimers and Deacon Blue.

And completing the Friday night line-up is Glasgow’s The Gospel Truth Choir who wow crowds with their uplifting and moving sound. Their debut album ‘Deep Fried Gospel’ will be released next month.

The Famous Grouse Festival will run for the first time on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August at Scotland’s oldest working distillery, in scenic Perthshire*, marking the end of a special year celebrating 30 years as the number one selling whisky in Scotland.

Visitors also will have the opportunity to sample whisky that is not widely available, learn how to make whisky cocktails and be introduced to The Famous Grouse Family: The Famous Grouse, The Black Grouse and The Snow Grouse.

Tracey McCafferty, General Manager, The Famous Grouse Experience commented: “Tickets went on sale last month and we’ve had a great response but it’s great to be able to now share the full line-up. We still have one spot available in the Saturday line-up which is open for competition so budding musicians should watch this space.”

The music and whisky festival will run from 4.30pm to 10pm on Friday 12th August and from 3pm to 10pm on Saturday 13th August at The Famous Grouse Experience in Crieff. Ticket prices are £30 per day and are now on sale from www.ticketmaster.co.uk. Tickets are restricted to those aged 14 and above and all over 18’s will be treated to three free drams.  Disabled access and parking available on prior request.
