File Under Fiction is a collection of catchy, upbeat musical vignettes recounting the tales of quirky, colourful characters from lovesick librarians and dumbstruck musicians to Peeping Toms and Guilty Johns. All are dispatched in Napier’s infectious native accent.
The ‘Songwriter of the Year’( MG Alba Music Awards, 2010) nominee is emerging as a writer and performer of impressive stature whose songs have been likened to those of Ben Folds and a Scottish Ian Dury.
For this his second CD, the tight four-piece band feature original Mountie members Gillian Frame (fiddle, vocals) and Douglas Millar (keys, vocals), with drummer Scott MacKay (Roddy Hart, Manran) and bassist James Lindsay (Breabach).
The album was produced, recorded and co-written by Nick Turner at Watercolour Music in the Scottish Highlands. File Under Fiction is the perfect evolution from their first writing project, Queen Anne’s Revenge, and the original fusion of traditional and contemporary Scottish trad folk of the Mountaineers’ first album Out All Night.
