Funded Artist Residency on Inch Kenneth
31 May 2011 in Argyll & the Islands, Visual Arts & Crafts
6°WEST, the new artist collective based on the Isle of Mull, has received funding from HI-Arts and Creative Scotland to have an artist residency on the island of Inch Kenneth in June 2011 as part of the Year of Scotland’s Islands.
6°WEST has been given the unique opportunity to have complete access to Inch Kenneth house, archive and island by the Barlow family who own the island.
Artist members of the collective taking part are Anne Devine, David Faithfull, Mhairi Killin, Veronica Slater and curator Alicia Hendrick. Joining 6°WEST during part of the residency will be photographer Shannon Tofts, art critic Georgina Coburn and art historian Murdo MacDonald.
All of the creatives taking part will be responding to this culturally significant island, which has a fascinating history. An exhibition of the developed work from 6°WEST’s residency will be shown as part of the Year of Scotland’s Islands and tour internationally.

I run a sail training Charity and have become interested in the Island, particularly its history from AD 400 to 1000. I would be grateful if you could copy me on any information on the history of the cave dwelling. particularly any archeological studies.
