Strathpeffer Pavilion is 130 years old!
1 Jun 2011 in Highland
Strathpeffer Pavilion was opened in August 1881 by the Countess of Cromartie.
Since restoration of the building was completed in 2004, there have been over 150 weddings booked, over 500 events and nearly 100,000 people attending these events.
“We’re going to celebrate!” says Pavilion manager, Andrea Muir. “The response to the Pavilion’s new lease of life has been really positive but in 2011 the economic situation is hitting hard. We have to keep going in spite of these external difficulties because the Pavilion is too precious to lose again.
“So, as we have reached a milestone birthday we’ve decided to turn the birthday idea on its head and give gifts to our customers rather than expecting presents for us! And hopefully we will create a really positive buzz for the rest of the birthday year.
“So this is our birthday box of delights: Buy One Get One Free on tickets to selected shows – the first of which is Absolute Bowie on 17 June with more shows to be announced soon. Special rates on hall hire for birthday parties; special rates on weekday weddings; even more new and different events; and later in the year our own birthday party.
“I don’t mind being completely honest about this. We need more people to come to the Pavilion and with fuel prices so high I can understand that they may not want to travel but we have a fantastic venue here which continues to attract top performers and we want to be here for the next 130 years!”

Great idea to celebrate this landmark.
Great idea! And many thanks to Absolute Bowie for agreeing to be part of the Pavilion’s birthday celebrations!
