Licence granted for ‘Rewind Scotland: The 80s Festival’

2 Jun 2011

Perth and Kinross council today gave the green light to the “Rewind Scotland: The 80s Festival”, granting a licence for the biggest line-up of eighties artists in Scotland ever to perform at the festival, which takes place at Scone Palace near Perth over the weekend of July 29th-31st.

“We are delighted to get the go-ahead” said festival organiser David Heartfield, “and grateful to everyone at Perth and Kinross Council and the Emergency Services who have worked hard to make this festival happen.  We can now look forward to what promises to be a fantastic party at the end of July.”

Originally launched at Henley-on-Thames in 2009, the 80s Rewind Music Festival was the surprise success of the year attracting 30,000 people. What’s more, the festival was nominated for Best New Festival of 2009.  In its second year at Henley-On-Thames (2010), the festival grew to capacity at 40,000 people and was broadcast for the first time on Sky Arts television.

Now the first Rewind Scotland will take place on the weekend of the 29th-31st July at the historic setting of Scone Palace in Perthshire – the home of The Earls of Mansfield and the crowning palace of the Kings of Scotland – featuring a massive line-up of 25 artists from the decade including Tony Hadley, Rick  Astley, The Human League, Bananarama, Howard Jones, Heaven 17 and Perth’s very own Fiction Factory.

In addition to the Main Stage, festival-goers can look forward to lots of other festival fun from Silent Discos to Live Karaoke bars along with Camping and Glamping (Glamorous Camping) options.
