Scotland’s national conservatoire of music, drama and dance offers access to its spaces, staff and curriculum to share an inspiring range of highly specialised summer schools.

These offer a comprehensive range of different disciplines: acting; prosthetics; film editing; modern ballet; a wide range to suit all creative tastes.

Courses are designed and led by Academy staff members, lecturers, professors and International Fellows, who teach our undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and can give you a taste of what full-time study is like. The courses are affiliated with some of our national arts organisations including Scottish Ballet, as well as key educational institutions such as Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Skye. Some of the courses also offer the chance to visit the Edinburgh International Festival or Fringe.

The Schools of Dance and Drama combine to offer transition into training experiences between one and four weeks in duration. Course numbers are small to ensure each participant experiences conservatoire setting learning and teaching throughout.

These short courses are ideally for those who are considering studying at the Academy, in Scotland, or in the UK; are thinking about a career in the performing or production arts; or are simply looking for a fantastic creative learning experience.

 Accommodation

Residential accommodation for those travelling within the UK or from overseas is available at Liberty House. Places are strictly limited so please make contact with Liberty Living to check availability. Prices are £118 for seven nights or £16.85 per night.

English Language Level

The Academy suggests that an intermediate minimum level of B2 (CEFR) or 5.5 (IELTS) in English language ability will ensure you get the most from your summer school experience. Please click here to visit the IELTS website for futher guidance.
