IOTA Electric Ceilidh

19 Jul 2011 in Highland, Music

In partnership with Creative Scotland, London 2012 Open Weekend & Highland Council, IOTA is hosting an event on Friday 22nd July (2011) in the ground floor of Old Town Rose Street carpark in Inverness from 9-10pm. This will be a free event taking place on the ground floor of the multi-storey (next to the ticket machines) with the space specially transformed for the night so you won’t recognise the place!

During the day, right next door at the Spectrum Centre there will be all sorts of activities happening – DJ workshops, an exhibition, demonstrations – which are being run by the local skateboarding crew. We’ve officially combined forces so that the sequence of events flows seamlessly into the evening with a FREE electronic ceilidh that will feature new artist’s projections & live musicians making the multi-storey the coolest venue in town. Images and sounds of the skaters will be mixed into the images & tracks projected and played inside the space for the ceilidh by skilled artists, Dave Martin & Graeme Roger amongst others.

Word is currently going out using various networks including the skaters own sites and our own contacts so it should be a interesting crowd on the night. Don’t be shy if skateboarding is not your thing – just dust off your best ceilidh shoes and come have fun in the carpark! Will be another event to chalk up that makes Inverness THE place to hang out…
