The legend returns!
Wee Stories’ award-winning smash hit Arthur, the Story of a King will tour across Scotland in autumn 2011. Previously only seen in large scale theatres, this new production features Wee Stories’ Andy Cannon, Iain Johnstone and David Trouton, bringing their unique storytelling style and engaging humour to the legendary tale of King Arthur, undoubtedly the best known of our Celtic heroes.
So, travel back in time to the Dark Ages (called that not because it was dark, but because it’s a time we don’t know much about) and join three (almost) grown men armed only with several boxes of cornflakes as they set out on a quest to discover the real Arthur, the man behind the mask.
Arthur, the Story of a King is an adventure that is perfect for everyone – young and old alike – and is yet another example of Wee Stories remarkable ability to enchant children and adults with their unmistakable love of literature, visual games and transfixing and imaginative stagecraft.
See www.weestoriestheatre.org for tour dates.
Wee Stories Press Statement
The multi-award winning Wee Stories announces that Andy Cannon will step down from his position as Co-Director, with effect from the 31st August 2011. Iain Johnstone will become Artistic Director of the company, with immediate effect.
Commenting on his decision, Andy Cannon said:
“After much thought, I decided that I wish to focus on my own work as a storyteller and in particular, my desire to research and develop a long-term Scottish history project over the next three years. I am immensely proud of everything which Wee Stories has achieved over the last sixteen years and particularly of my close collaboration with Iain. I look forward to him leading the company to new and exciting heights.”
Iain Johnstone said:
“I am incredibly supportive of Andy’s decision and see my appointment as Artistic Director as one of natural evolution for the company. Andy and I have a long standing friendship and working relationship which I am delighted will be continuing with Andy joining David Trouton as an Associate Artist with Wee Stories.
We are delighted that Creative Scotland has invested in our new version of Arthur, the Story of a King and hope they will continue to support Wee Stories’ ambitious and exciting projects planned for 2012 and beyond.”
