“ART AROUND THE FIRTH” 23 – 31 July 2011

This is our annual Highlands Open Studios event – we invite you to take a leisurely tour around the Beauly Firth visiting 2 galleries and 3 artist studio / workshops. Artists will be exhibiting their work and painting in the galleries during the week. Check the full details at www.tore-art-gallery.co.uk  .

Our artists at Tore for the week are Margaret McKay, Isabell Dickson, Elizabeth Joss, Margaret Cowie, Miriam Smith and Clare Blois. I am very excited with the work that has arrived, so please join us for a glass of wine or a coffee any time during the week and see our paintings – there’ll be a lot of studio bargains too!

Ben Southern

Ben’s lovely paintings of the Black Isle are still on display – please come along if you have not seen them yet. We also have the newly published “Eilean Dubh” book in stock – stunning photos of the Black Isle by Andrew Dowsett and friends.

JAMES ROSS: Saturday 27 August

The multi-talented JAMES ROSS presents “ONCE MORE WITH FEELING”, an entertaining evening of his own poetry and stand-up comedy, with wine and nice things to eat. This is an event not to be missed – there’s limited seating so it’s essential to book. Tickets £12, this time all in support of the RNIB. Come and enjoy yourselves; PLEASE BOOK NOW

Moy Field Sports Fair 5 – 6 August

It can be hard to find somewhere to sit down at Moy, but feel free to head for our picnic table and jug of Pimms – our stand is at the top of the Main Ring.

Aberdeen Art Fair 12 – 14 August

The inaugural Aberdeen Art Fair is taking place at the Music Hall in the city centre, with many galleries exhibiting from Scotland and beyond. Tore Art Gallery’s stand will feature our “WALL OF SMALL” – lots of identically sized small works specially painted by the best of our gallery artists. If you would like FREE TICKETS to the Aberdeen Art Fair, please contact me, as I have them to give away. Details of the venue etc may be found on www.aberdeenartfair.co.uk

Tore Two at Inverness Airport

ISABELL DICKSON is currently the main artist at INVERNESS AIRPORT, exhibiting from mid-July to mid-October 2011. Also paintings by Michael Stuart-Green and Helen Moore, all to be found in the restaurant area – do have a look at this excellent venue for paintings.

Looking Ahead

“SHARED SPACE” is the title of the Exhibition opening on 21st August. Linda Smith, Mary Wilson and Margaret Cowie share a studio space and present their diverse work. More details in due course.

Our next CONCERT is on 17th September – a varied programme of song and piano music from Liz McLardy and Anne McIntyre. Please note the date in your diaries – booking available soon.

Added to all the above activity, Clare and Ian are moving house soon (although not very far). If anyone wants to rent our lovely old manse near the gallery (many original features) we’d be delighted to hear from you.
