Harp Village at Cromarty

The Harp Village in Cromarty is taking place from Friday September 2nd starts off with a concert of specially composed music called ‘The Oak and the Ivy’.

This piece was written by Corrina Hewat to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Clarsach Society and the 30th Anniversary of the Edinburgh Harp Festival and performed by 6 harpers, Wendy Stewart, Mary Macmaster, Tristan le Govic, Bill Taylor, Heather Downie and Corrina Hewat and on Friday it will be performed at the Edinburgh Festival.

This special piece of music will form the basis of the tuition for the Harp Village weekend. Such is the skill of the writer and performers, they will be teaching various parts of this extraordinary and beautiful piece to their students who will then perform the piece in a special concert on Sunday afternoon at the Stables.

The first concert of the Harp Village on Friday Sept 2nd will feature ‘The Song of the Oak and the Ivy’ This wonderful and surprising piece of music will demonstrate beautifully how diverse the harp can be.

The concert starts at 8pm and there are still a few places left for places for the Harp Village weekend. No matter what stage of playing you are at, there will be a part for you so just get in touch.
