Caithness International Science Festival Photography Competition

Science O3, organiser of the Caithness International Science Festival, is launching a photography competition for local students and amateur photographers to celebrate the Festival’s 10th year.

We are looking for photos based on the following:

•      “Energy in Caithness”

•      “Open” – photos based on any subject

Photographs can be sent to: scienceo3@kelvinprobe.com or by post to the Science O3 office c/o KP Technology, 12A Burn Street, Wick KW1 5EH.

Categories :

Primary P1 – P4; Primary P5 – P7; 11 – 18 years of age; and Over 18 years.

Entrants can enter up to 5 photos each. Entries should also include the entrant’s full name, age, address, phone number and email address, and a short caption to accompany the photograph.

Photographs submitted electronically should be in JPEG format, at least 1.5MB and no larger than 5MB and available at a sufficiently high resolution (at least 300dpi) for printing.

A selection of photographs may be used in future Caithness International Science Festivals.

Judge: Award-winning photographer John Baikie.

Prizes:

• Over 18’s winner: £100 cash prize for photographic equipment.

• Primary and 11-18 age group winners: 1 hour’s tutorial with John Baikie.

• Runners-up in each category: book tokens.

Exhibition: Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at Caithness Horizons, followed by an exhibition of entries that will run in October.

The closing date for entries is 5.00pm on Friday, 16th September 2011.
