THE BOY AND THE BUNNET @ BLAS, EDEN COURT THEATRE, TUESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER

An ambitious new production from the Highlands receives its World Premiere during the Blas Festival in September. ‘The Boy and the Bunnet’ is intended to be traditional music’s answer to ‘Peter and the Wolf.’ Written in Scots by the Booker-prize-nominated author, James Robertson, with music by the Caithness-born composer, James Ross, the performance uses traditional Scottish instruments and musical styles with a Narrator (Skye’s Wilma Kennedy) to tell the story of a brave wee boy who gets into danger when he goes out on an adventure.

This is definitely a Blas event for all ages not to be missed! The fantastic line-up of musicians includes a number of regular Fèis Rois tutors. The performers are: James Ross (piano), Corrina Hewat (harp and voice), Patsy Reid (fiddle), Neil Johnstone (cello), Angus Lyon (accordion), Fraser Fifield (pipes) and Signy Jakobsdottir (percussion); as well as narrators, Gerda Stevenson in Scots (BBC Radio and National Theatre of Scotland) and Wilma Kennedy in Gaelic (BBC TV and radio).

Fèis participants are eligible for £1 off the children’s ticket price of £5, so can get a ticket for just £4 if they wear a bunnet! Tickets are available only through the Eden Court Box Office on 01463 234234, or the website www.eden-court.co.uk
