Cara Luft and Suns of Arqa to play Coffee Shop Sessions

Cara Luft is a widely-respected member of the Canadian folk/roots music community.  She has graced the stage at Lilith Fair & performed at the prestigious International Guitar Festivals. With The Wailin’ Jennys she created one of the most talked about folk groups of the last ten years & recorded the exquisite 40 Days, winner of the 2005 Juno award for Best Roots Recording (Group). Since leaving the trio she has wowed audiences  & critics with her solo performances. Her songwriting is always evocative & insightful, her guitar playing fully accomplished & intricate, her voice distinctive, compelling & heartfelt.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we won’t be able to do the proposed House Concert at Steve and Clancy’s, however Cara will be performing with Matt Morrow at The Coffee Shop in Concert. We are going to do something a bit different on Sunday 18th, you are invited to an informal get together with Cara which will be video-cast and record for her fans locally and around the world. I’ll be hosting and fielding your questions personality of via the Internet & asking Cara to illustrate  in music & conversation. Suns of Arqa are a World Music collective founded in 1979 by sometime highland based Musician enigma Michael Wadada. Since the group’s formation, over 200 people from around the world have played & recorded with them,  like-minded musicians Wadada met as he travelled the world. This performance from the global Village Coffee Shop will link Sons Of Arqa world Family by video cast on stageit.com, we will be video-casting this show live to a truly world audience.

The new album “Stranger Music”a Sons Of Arqa interpretation of the Songs Of Leonard Cohen, has taken the roots music world by surprise and reaffirmed Wadada’s rebel music credentials..
