Ganseyfest – International Gansey Seminar

Ganseyfest – International Gansey Seminar will take place at the Centre for Health Science, Raigmore, Old Perth Rd, Inverness, IV2 3JH on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd October 2011 from 9:30am – 5:00pm.

Join us for this celebration of our fishing heritage and ganseys – the beautifully crafted, patterned sweaters traditionally worn by fishermen. Hear about the women who knitted them, the men who wore them, and the creative ways in which traditional skills and patterns are being developed and applied in fashion today.

Entry is free to a range of demonstrations, displays, drop-in classes and the largest exhibition of ganseys from the Moray Firth, UK and Netherlands.

Retail stands include Frangipani, Ripple Crafts, Di Gilpin and The Wool Shed.

Tickets start at £8 for talks, workshops and classes on many subjects, featuring top international gansey experts, fashion designers, local historians and more.

Fashion Show- Saturday evening (6:00 – 8:00) Tickets £5 at the door.
