They are going to present a varied programme of classics – some well known and some not so well known. This should prove to be one of the highlights of the Stables events calendar- definitely not to be missed. Tickets priced at £10/£8 and £3 for children will sell fast and it is a very small venue so email Cromarty Arts Trust or leave a message on the phone to ensure your booking.

And for the artists among you – we are holding a Life Drawing Weekend with Dean Melville on Saturday 8th October and Sunday 9th October from 10am – 4pm. This is a rare opportunity to spend an intensive weekend getting to grips with the human figure – but not literally of course!

Working directly from the human figure these two days will cover all aspects of drawing technique, such as Mark making, Proportion, Composition, Tone, weight, anatomy attitude and Colour. The objectives of this workshop are to build confidence in attitude and approach to the process, while combining this with sensitivity to technique. Cost of the weekend is £90 which covers all tuition and lunch and refreshments during both days. Places will be strictly limited so if you are interested please let Cromarty Arts Trust know as soon as you can.

October 29th and 30th from 10am – 5pm is the ‘Wooden It Be Nice’ Craft Fair. If you are a crafts person and would like to book a table for the weekend, please let Cromarty Arts Trust know. This is the perfect opportunity to sell your gifts and crafts for Christmas in the idyllic surroundings of the Stables in Cromarty.

Saturday November 26th and Sunday November 27th – Portfolio Preparation Weekend. Advice and tuition from Oliver Reed from Edinburgh College of Art for all those who are thinking of applying to Art College. This weekend course is aimed at those students wishing to create the foundations to a portfolio. Giving you the opportunity to develop a series of works through drawing and painting, working from the still life composition to more abstract themes. You will have a chance of making small sculptures and create a series of mono printing to broaden the range of disciplines shown within your portfolio of work, building on a drawing and painting foundation.

You may also wish to bring in your current portfolio of work to engage in a group review session with Oliver who can then give you suggestion as to areas to focus on in the future. Oliver Reed has been delivering Portfolio Preparation courses at Edinburgh College of Art for the past twelve years. Cost of the weekend is £90 which covers all tuition and lunch and refreshments during both days.
