Life Drawing Weekend with Dean Melville
21 Sep 2011 in Artforms, Highland, Visual Arts & Crafts
Saturday October 8th and Sunday Oct 9th from 10am – 4pm at the Stables, Cromarty, Black Isle
Working directly from the human figure these two days will cover all aspects of drawing technique, such as mark making, proportion, composition, tone, weight, anatomy attitude and colour
The objectives of this workshop are to build confidence in attitude and approach to the process, while combining this with sensitivity to technique.
Dean Melville gained his BA Hons and Postgraduate Diploma from Grays School of Art before heading to the U.S for two years. There he worked for his Masters Degree in Fine Arts Painting.
In all his artistic career, the human figure has always dominated as the central subject matter. While at the University of Cincinnati he tutored the BA Fine Arts course for 2 years.
On gaining his MFA he returned to the UK to continue working and tutoring, giving him the chance to work with a wide variety of students ranging from school portfolio groups through to professional artists. He tutors individuals and groups in all aspects of Drawing & Painting and for him, working from the figure remains the most fascinating of subjects.
Dean is also a fully fledged magician and is a member of the Magic Circle. The magic is something he has done for about 20 years and for a while worked regularly with Skibo Castle, mainly with private parties and corporate events. So come and inject a little magic into your drawing – you will be amazed at the results.
Cost of the weekend is £90 which includes soup & sandwich lunch, tea/coffee throughout the day. Places are limited so please book early.
