Yarnbombing is knitted graffiti, it uses knitting to liven up outdoor spaces, building and street features. Yarnbombing draws attention to public spaces and makes a statement in a non-destructive way.
Jen Cantwell is a Moray based artist/designer who works with textiles making large installations and small sculptural pieces using traditional handskills and interactive technology.
Yarnbomb at Feis Spe 2011 17th – 21st October (Grantown on Spey)
Learn or improve your knitting/crochet skills.
There will be some handknitting, some designing for machine knit, some making and the whole lot will be taken outside and then some Yarnbombing will be done! Part of the week will be based inside and part based outside on location, so if you would like to be involved please bring suitable outdoor clothing.
Design/plan/make and execute a Yarnbomb – this will be an intensive week and suitable for age 12 upwards and anyone interested in contemporary art/craft/design.
Its knitting but not as you know it!
