Donnie Munro for Strathpeffer Art Fair

10 Oct 2011 in Highland, Visual Arts & Crafts

Donnie Munro is to take part in the annual Strathpeffer Pavilion Art Fair this year from 24 to 27 November.

Perhaps most widely-known as the former lead singer of iconic Celtic rock band Runrig, Donnie is now a popular and successful singer and songwriter with his own band.  But his first love was art and he studied at Gray’s School of Art and Moray House School of Education before embarking on his illustrious musical career.  Examples of his recent work, which include landscapes and abstracts, can be seen on his Facebook page.

“Donnie has given two great concerts at the Pavilion, to large and enthusiastic audiences”, reports Pavilion staffer and Art Fair committee member Margaret  Macdonald.  “He told us he had not found time or opportunity to paint for a while and usually sold his work through the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh.  However, he was interested to hear about the Pavilion Art Fair and said that, when he did find time to paint again, he would seriously consider taking part in it.  We are just delighted that he has confirmed he will do so this year.”

Donnie Munro says, “It’s wonderful to see the Pavilion restored not only as a live entertainment venue but also offering a whole variety of functions and events and I’m happy to support it by taking part in the Art Fair.  I was also very glad to hear that art students from Dingwall Academy have again been invited to show work at the Pavilion Art Fair, as they did last year.”
