Artmag and Creative Scotland have joined forces to boost the visual arts.

ARTMAG, Scotland’s largest circulation art magazine, and Creative Scotland, the national development body for the arts, screen and creative industries, have joined forces to promote the visual arts to a wider audience throughout Scotland, writes Ian Sclater.

Thanks to a marketing budget from Creative Scotland, the August/September issue of Artmag was the first to be distributed throughout Scotland. At the same time circulation was been increased by 7% to 30,000 copies per issue and volume from 64 to 72 pages.

Artmag is now available free of charge throughout the Highlands & Islands in nearly 70 galleries. Individual subscriptions are also available at a cost of £15 for six issues a year.

Said Andrew Dixon, Chief Executive, Creative Scotland: “Artmag is a terrific opportunity to showcase creativity across Scotland. Our sponsorship of Artmag allows the magazine to increase its reach across a range of Scottish regions, promote initiatives such as Own Art for the benefit of artists and galleries across Scotland, as well as promoting the nation’s creative talent.”

“Our ten-year vision is that Scotland becomes recognised as one of the world’s most creative nations and viewed as an attractive place to live, work and learn as an artist. Our investment in Artmag supports that ambition.”

Artmag offers advertising space to galleries, exhibitors and artists/makers both in print and online at substantially reduced rates. Artmag, Scotland’s largest circulation art magazine, also has an opening for a gallery co-ordinator/advertising representative/magazine distributor based in the Highlands. For further information contact Ian Sclater, editor@artmag.co.uk, 07968 725178.
