Royal Paintings Again at Strathpeffer Pavilion Art Fair

17 Oct 2011 in Highland, Visual Arts & Crafts

Organisers of Strathpeffer Pavilion’s popular annual Art Fair have announced that HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, has agreed to lend two of his own paintings for display at this year’s event, from 24 to 27 November.  They will be a view of the Cairngorms, “Beinn A Bhuird, Invercauld” and one painted by His Royal Highness during a visit to Africa, “Ksar Douira, Morocco”.  These pictures will not be for sale.

His Royal Highness is an experienced watercolourist and has been painting for most of his adult life.  Art Fair committee member Anne Marie Foot said, “We are so pleased that His Royal Highness has kindly agreed to lend his paintings again and the chance to see some of his work will undoubtedly be an extra point of interest.  The main object of the Art Fair is to raise funds for the Pavilion but, in the process, we do want to encourage as many people as possible to come to the Pavilion Art Fair and discover the amazing wealth of artistic talent in the Highlands and Islands, on display in this famous building.”  Anne Marie added,  “We are also grateful to Mackays Garage Dingwall and Square Wheels Strathpeffer for once again sponsoring this year’s event.”

More than 130 artists are expected to have work on display this year.  Artists participating in Strathpeffer Pavilion Art Fair for the first time include Willie Fulton, Gillian Jones, Donnie Munro, Caroline Simmill and Katy Spong.  Esther Armstrong, Clare Blois, David Body, Kirstie Cohen, Margaret Ferguson, James Hawkins, Janis Mennie, Peter Munro, Christine O’Keeffe, Gordon Rennie, Donald Shearer, Andrew Sinclair, Dot Walker and Alan S. Watson are among those taking part again in 2011.

Strathpeffer Pavilion Art Fair will be open from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 November  inclusive from 10am each day, with late opening on the Thursday and Friday. Entry is free (though donations are welcome), teas and coffees will be on sale and there will be a raffle. All proceeds from the event go to the voluntary group Friends of the Pavilion. They in turn regularly contribute funds to support the Pavilion, which is registered as a charity and run as a social enterprise for the benefit of the community.
