At One With Music Announce Extra Lunchtime Concert on Tuesday 25 October

22 Oct 2011 in Highland, Music

Cellist Rowena Calvert is coming to perform in Inverness Town House on Tuesday 25 October 2011 at 1.00pm as an additional event in the programme of lunchtime concerts promoted by At One With Music.

Rowena grew up in The Highlands before studying at both St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh and the famous Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey.  From there she went to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.  Now based in London, she has a very busy freelance career playing in the John Wilson Orchestra, is cellist of the Cavaleri String Quartet (Winners of the ROSL Ensemble Award 2011 and the Special Prize in the Premio Borciani Competition 2011) and enjoys regular solo and duo work.  Earlier this year she was the soloist with the Highland Chamber Orchestra playing Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations.

Rowena’s solo recital will feature Bach’s G minor Cello Suite, the often recorded Sonata for Solo Cello by George Crumb, three Caprices by Alfredo Piatti and La Folia by the cult Italian cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima.

Doors open for this concert at 12.30pm, the performance will last for about fifty minutes and admission will cost £5 for Adults, £4 for Concessions and £1 for Children.
