There is a strong Steve Earle connection about this collaboration between Mike and Ana Egge, GOOD LUCK MOUNTAIN.

Mike Ferrio is one of Steve Earle’s favourite artists, Steve named him as his favourite song writer in Word magazine recently, and Steve also produced Ana Egge new album. They tour the Highlands with The Medicine Show.

Mike has been driving force of  New York alt-country with his old band Tandy. Good Luck Mountain is a new band. Tandy played more than 1,200 gigs in the USA, Canada, The UK & Europe from 1998-2008. Sadly Mikes band mate Drew Glackin died in 2008. Drew’s passing effectively ended Tandy. Mike says “I realized that in order to continue i would have to start over”.

Good Luck Mountain is a new beginning.

The debut record is an ensemble recording. It’s an art project for a friend, designed to work best in the 12″ vinyl LP format. The music is surprising. Things pop out. It’s a beautiful odd-duck of a record. The theme seems to be that we begin to see how precious Life is when we give Death it’s due.

Mike joins forces with the wonderful Ana Egge to bring these songs to life on this tour. Lucinda Williams once described Egge as “the Nina Simone of folk.”  Ana has a new album out produced by Steve Earle, which is picking up praise and airplay everywhere, she is also a very very fine guitarist and bottleneck player.
