Creative Scotland appoints two co-producers to manage PAR+RS

26 Oct 2011

Creative Scotland is delighted to announce the appointment of a new team comprising Trigger (Suzy Glass and Angie Bual) and Chris Fremantle to manage Creative Scotland’s public art resource, PAR+RS: Public Art Scotland.

Established in 2008 PAR+RS is an informed and impartial resource that aims to further the visibility of public art across Scotland and provide a platform for discussion and critical debate. It is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.

Since its inception PAR+RS has facilitated an annual programme of public discussions, featured a wide and diverse range of projects from across Scotland and provided space to artists, writers and organisations to highlight and explore areas they feel are key to the continued development and production of public art.

Trigger and Chris will be responsible for presenting current public art practice across Scotland both on and offline. Both join PAR+RS with a wealth of experience of arts and culture in Scotland.

Welcoming the new appointments, Anne Petrie, Development Officer of Creative Scotland said:

‘Whether it be in our car parks, shopping centres, hospitals or motorways, public art is an important part of building relations between artists and the public. It offers the public an opportunity to experience creativity in a familiar environment and provides artists with a new space for expression.’

On being appointed Chris Fremantle, a producer and researcher working in the visual arts, said:

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to help shape the future of PAR+RS, building on the excellent work to date, supporting all the practices and professions involved, and drawing attention to the strong story of public art in Scotland.  I think we are all, quite rightly, extremely ambitious for PAR+RS and for public art in Scotland.”

Trigger Producer Suzy Glass said:

“We’re looking forward to exploring the increasingly cross-discipline nature of Public Art, and to developing the PAR+RS framework so it continues to evolve as the main destination for relevant news, opinions, conversations and tools.”
