Moray Art Centre: New October-November classes

Moray Art Centre’s new programme of classes in the fine arts and crafts about to begin, with many classes already fully booked.

Drawing the Figure – Revealed by Light (16+ years)
A one-day workshop with Mary Bourne on Sunday, 30 October 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

At a basic level light simply reveals surface and form, but it can do much more than this, creating atmosphere and a sensual connection with the scene depicted. During the day there will be several longish poses that will enable you to consider solidity versus space and the way light and shade contribute to a drawing’s composition.

Drawing and Painting – Level 2, Block 2 (16+ years)
A 5-week block starting October 27, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm until November 24

For students interested in experimenting and extending their skills using a variety of materials. A course involving both drawing and painting projects to develop skills. Explore the richness and variety of marks, line and tone. Exciting patterns and textures can be created as you experiment with different combinations of materials that will form a vocabulary for future work. Students will become familiar with many materials such as charcoal, graphite,watercolour, pastels and acrylic. This class is for aimed at those with a little experience.

Mosaic with Sally Hotson (16+ years), all levels
A 6-week block starting October 27, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm until December 1

Create a mosaic panel with colourful glass tessarae, pebbles and pieces of ceramic. Mosaic, the art of creating an image or design from small pieces of glass, stone or other material, has been popular for many thousands of years.

Fashion Design with Nina Roberts
A 5-week block starting October 27, 4.30 pm to 6.00pm until November 24

Calling all budding Fashion Designers! This is your opportunity to have fun completing a fashion design project from start to finish! From researching trends for Summer 2012 and creating a mood-board using magazine cuttings, to finalising and illustrating a collection of designs with colour and fabric swatches. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to take a close up look at sample dressmaking patterns and garments, look at the importance of construction, fastenings and fabrics, and develop their fashion illustration skills.
