Fire and Fibre – Collaborative artworks and installations by members of the Scottish Potters’ Association & the Scottish Basketmakers’ Circle takes place from 19 November – 17 December 2011 at the Collins Gallery in Glasgow.
Following the successes of experimental partnership projects by members of both groups in 2007 & 2009, this new body of work will comprise over 35 artworks in which 23 makers have collaborated to compliment and push the boundaries of each other’s practices. In response to the space afforded by the Collins Gallery, many have opted to create dynamic, large scale installations which include other media such as film and sound. Themes range from aspects of the Scottish landscape to political statements.
Individual makers will also be represented by a range of smaller pieces which will be available for immediate sale.
