Jon Byrd is joined by Fash Stewart for Highland dates

15 Nov 2011 in Highland, Music

The great Jon Byrd is joined on his Highland dates by “Highland Country Music personality” (The Bull) Fash Stewart

Jon is a first phone call in demand session guitarist in the most competitive town in the world, Nashville. He is also one of the best songwriters I know, his songs evoke the golden era of Country Music, while still relating directly to our very modern conditions & relationships, deep meaningful and beautifully crafted. His first visit to Europe and we have his first Scottish Shows, this is not to be missed. Look at the list of people he has worked with below.

Both Fash and Jon will be my guests on The Medicine Show, and Jon will be Fash’s guest on his new Country Music Radio Show for Medicine Show Internet Radio, “Two Hours of Bull” (www.internetradio.co.uk).

Jon Byrd: Lead guitar for the seminal country band SLIM CHANCE AND THE CONVICTS (LETTERS TO MAMA, 1993, & TWANG PEEKS, 1996). Formed hard country band the RATCHET SET as an outlet for his love of trucking songs &  honky-tonk gems. Late 90’s, Byrd helped country traditionalist GRETA LEE record her first 2 cd’s THIS AIN’T OVER YET and YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. Relocated to Nashville, quickly making a name as an authentic country singer and Telecaster slinger, recording with DAVIS RAINES, BUCK JONES, STEPHEN SIMMONS, SUZETTE AND THE NEON ANGELS, MANDO SAENZ, AMELIA WHITE, MARK HUFF, CARISSA LEE BROADWATER, SUZANNA SPRING AND BEN LANKENSHIP. 2004 his own project BYRD’S AUTO PARTS. Since then he appears on 3 RED BEET RECORDS compilations. 2010 Jon gets a cut on the new ERIC BRACE AND PETER COOPER recording MASTER SESSIONS, SILENT NIGHT was the first single released from that cd and a Christmas radio hit. This year Jon can be heard on Country Music Hall of Famer TOM T. HALL’s I LOVE: TOM T. HALL’S SONGS OF FOX HOLLOW (RED BEET RECORDS) along side ERIC AND PETER, BUDDY MILLER, PATTY GRIFFIN, JIM LAUDERDALE, ELIZABETH COOK, DUANE EDDY, AND BOBBY BARE. You now hold in your hand his new full-length recording DOWN AT THE WELL OF WISHES Enjoy!!

I’m looking forward to opening up for Jon, and I’ll be interviewing him for my new radio show on MSIR. “If you used to like country music before Garth Brooks, then you’ll like Jon Byrd.” Fash Stewart

“To paraphrase Jon Byrd, country music has a reputation that she don’t deserve.”

Cult country-folk singer/songwriter, Fash Stewart has been variously described as “a rising star in the country scene” and “a poet in the mould of Leonard Cohen”.

Whilst you can expect songs of humour about roosters, fish, dogs and such like, you’ll find that Fash also has a more serious side with a repertoire of country ballads, love songs and train songs.

With over 20 dates lined up for his Europe wide summer tour, and over 10,000 kilometres to cover, you’d suspect that Fash is a little crazy!

Join him on his journey for these nights with a country hero and let him take you on a journey with his songs.
