Inverness Old Town Art presents three days of live car graffiting, artists’ talks and a series of workshops from Team Recoat – a new collective consisting of ten Scottish artists working in the field of street art, graffiti and graphics. They are delighted to welcome artists: Death Rattles, Syrkus, Lyken, Rue Five, Elph, FiST and Kirsty Whiten to Inverness as part of Freaky Fridays funded by Creative Scotland.

Thursday 1 December 2011 –  IG:LU, 19 Church Street
Workshop 1: 5 – 6.30pm (Free)
Graphic artist Elph will deliver an introduction to creating your own zines and show examples of other zines. The workshop will explore collaborative drawing and creating themes and narratives. Artists’ Talk: 7 – 8.30pm  (Free) No need to book
Kirsty Whiten and Syrkus will give an illustrated talk about their practice and past Recoat projects.

Live Street Art:  9am – 5pm
Team Recoat will be transforming five cars on the ground floor all day as well as other spaces around the building. So why not pop in and see the work in progress.

Saturday 3 December 2011 – Workshop 2
10am – 12 noon (Free)
Meeting Room (by office), Old Town Rose Street Car Park
Artist Kirsty Whiten will talk through her methods and tips for creating better portraits. Learn first-hand the techniques, hints and tips contained in her distinctive style, and how to deepen the power of your portrait with narrative and psychology. Inspired by the Team Recoat murals and street art in the car park, you will draw a dark, shadowed portrait from a photograph, using chalk on a blackboard that you can take home with you.
