Seasonal Concerts In Inverness Town House
29 Nov 2011 in Highland, Music
Inverness audiences will be able to enjoy mince pies and mulled wine when they go to the December concerts being promoted in Inverness Town House by Inverness Chamber Music and by At One With Music.
Inverness Chamber Music’s Christmas Concerts have gained a reputation for a really enjoyable night out with a programme with universal appeal, full of excellent music and good cheer. Wednesday 7th December sees Glasgow-based Opera Alba make their Town House debut with a programme of songs and arias from opera, operetta and the world of the musicals, all served up with a seasonal touch. The four singers, Daisy Henderson, Jenny Wilson Best, Adam Magee and Steven Faughey have all got an impressive track record of performing on stage and will be recognised by many from their visits to Eden Court with Scottish Opera (Daisy was the bicycling nun in the recent Barber of Seville). Accompanying them for this show of popular favourites will be Derek Clark, Scottish Opera’s Head of Music. The concert starts at 8.00pm. Tickets can be bought in advance from Eden Court Box Office or at the door on the night.
Christmas will also feature in the lunchtime concert on Friday 9th December promoted by At One With Music and featuring an international showcase trio from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Scots mezzo-soprano Laura Margaret Smith, violist Gabriella Gamesi from Hungary and Greek pianist Theodoros Iosifidis will be performing songs for alto by Bridge and Brahms as well as Schubert’s beautiful Arpeggione Sonata, before bringing this fifty minute concert to a conclusion with a selection of Christmas songs from around Europe. Tickets go on sale at the door from 12.30pm and the performance starts at 1.00pm.
