Year of Creative Scotland 2012

16 Dec 2011 in Festival

The Year of Creative Scotland 2012 is a unique opportunity to celebrate Scotland’s talent as a creative nation. The Year begins on 1 January 2012 and is a chance to showcase, celebrate and promote Scotland’s cultural and creative strengths. Through a dynamic and exciting year-long programme of activity celebrating our world-class events, festivals, culture and heritage, the Year puts Scotland’s culture and creativity in the international spotlight.

Creative Scotland has created a programme that shows Scotland’s creativity at its best: contemporary, international and reflecting the joy that a vibrant cultural life brings to our communities. We will invest around £6.5m National Lottery funds into a programme to support the Year and there are still opportunities to apply for investment.

The first announcements about Year of Creative Scotland projects and events were made earlier this week by Creative Scotland’s Chief Executive Andrew Dixon and Cabinet Secretary for Culture Fiona Hyslop MSP.

Creative Scotland expects that every creative organisation in Scotland will want to take part in the Year of Creative Scotland and there are two ways to do this:

  • By promoting your programme and events online to millions of visitors who plan to visit Scotland during the Year of Creative Scotland 2012. VisitScotland, the national tourism body, will be specially promoting the Year to the UK and international tourism trade and UK travellers. Submit your event.
  • By carrying the specially-designed Year of Creative Scotland logo across your programmes, exhibition catalogues or other marketing material. View and download our toolkit.

The Year of Creative Scotland 2012 is a fantastic opportunity to promote Scotland’s talent at home and across the world. We’re sure you’ll want to take part!
