Highland Print Studio offers a range of classes for anyone interested in learning a new technique and they have announced details of their classes for January – May 2012.

Beginner/Refresher – Evening Classes:

Etching: 21 Feb – 27 March 2012, Tuesday 6.30 – 8.30pm.
A comprehensive introduction to the techniques of creating an image consisting of line and tone by etching into a metal plate and hand printing using traditional methods. Price: £80.00 full/£72.00 conc.

Relief Printing: 22 Feb – 28 March 2012, Wednesday 6.30 – 8.30 pm.
Create a two-colour reduction print from a side-grain wood block. Learn a range of cutting and texture-making techniques. Option to work with either lino or wood. Price: £80.00 full/£72.00 conc.

Collagraph: 24 April – 29 May 2012, Tuesday 6.30 – 8.30pm.
Explore working with texture by building your own printing blocks from a variety of materials such as fabric, card, natural objects etc. Price: £80.00 full/£72.00 conc.

Beginner/Refresher – Weekend Classes:

Screenprinting: 4/5 Feb 2012, Sat/Sun 10am – 4pm.
Learn to build up an image by creating a series of stencils using a combination of cut paper and photo-emulsion techniques. Price: £80.00 full/£72.00 conc.

Polymer Photogravure: 18/19 Feb 2012, Sat/Sun 10am – 4pm. (FULLY BOOKED)

Monoprinting: 3 March, Sat 10am – 4pm. (FULLY BOOKED)

Digital Imaging: 17/18 March 2012, Sat/Sun 10am – 4pm.
Learn the principles of image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. Course covers use of camera to maximize source material and operation of Photoshop tools including, adjustments, selection and layers. Price: £80.00 full/£72.00 conc.

Wood Engraving: 21/22 April 2012, Sat/Sun 10am – 4pm.
An introduction to the detailed art of engraving on fine-grained wood blocks. Learn the use of tools such as the spitsticker to print small but captivating images. Price: £99.00 full/£91.00 conc.

Polymer Photogravure: 5/6 May 2012, Sat/Sun 10am – 4pm.
Create unique hand-printed photographs using Adobe Photoshop, polymer plates and an etching press. Price: £99.00 full/£91.00 conc.

Intermediate – Weekend Classes:

Screenprinting: 21/22 April 2012, Sat/Sun 10am – 4pm.
Plan and print a 4-colour screenprint. Course looks at planning the print, mixing colours, colour balance and tonal variation. Registering and printing the final image. Understanding of basic screenprinting processes required. Please bring an image that you would like to develop as a print. Price: £80.00 full/£72.00 conc.

Highland Print Studio will also schedule additional classes for groups. If you have a minimum of 6 participants, the Studio can arrange a class in a technique of your choice at a time to suit.
